|

hi, I have only just started using the modul8 2.5 beta so excuse me if these are basic questions...
can you apply a jpeg image (still image) as a mask to an individual layer?
we are using shaped screen clusters and want to arrange four layers with a hexagon screen mask to each layer. these masks never change once assigned as they match physical screen layouts.
also I can't find where to change layer blend modes? eg to have difference blend mode between two layers... |

ok done more reading, no blend modes yet (fine)...
looks to me like there is no individual layer masks but it should be possible for me to duplicate and modify the "global_mask" module to create a "layer_mask" module.
I also need to tie layers together so for example I need to have one clip triggered be rendered in two locations.
any advice for how to start this would be great, there doesnt seem to be a list of new keywords for scripting in version 2.5 yet or a list of all the 2.5 modules with what they do yet... |

Interesting
This would be really useful. Similar to the global mask but applied on a per layer basis.
Another way of approaching it could be to edit the crop filter to include the ability to choose common shapes such as triangle, pentagon and hexagon as well as the simple square.
Any chance we could have this guys or is it possible to edit the filters like modules? |

i totally agree and i think it's possible to do it thanks to CI effects. When you install developper tools from the Tiger installation disk you can test Core Intel effects with the Core Image Fun House application. and there is on the effect list "Composite operation" where you can apply several blend modes between a picture to another.
Of course if it's possible to add these CI features and let it accessible through the keyword list .
buit it's true if a simple access to meask and blend mode could be there on the main interface as Resolume does _________________ \\\==============================///

hi, i'd like to know if there's a way to define some spaces in the screen where you can decide to have some picture passing in. Hard to explain but let me try :
- Suppose you have a projection on a screen. You put a video full screen which is your background.
- then on a second layer, you have a media (picture or movie)with no alpha, simply on a 4/3 format or whatever. Is there's a way to imagine a module that can define some virtual shapes in which can appear you media, and out of this define shape, it doesn't appear anymore, so that you can still see you background layer? A kind of virtual mask in fact.
Am I clear enough?
Thanx ! |

witht hte filter module you can access simple crop feffects . maybe you can build your mask if the shape is not too complex otherwise there's no way to mask a media by another except if you choose de golmal mask module but it will affect background too _________________ \\\==============================///

Yes, i've been looking with crop or global mask, but indeed, it affects the media directly or the background layer.I guess M8 team could make a module for that ! |

i'm not sure the
| Code: | | direct_globalMask_surfaceBlend_Dest |
has more than one parameter to enter a specific layer as a source and destination. it's a Global mask and it affects the whole composition. _________________ \\\==============================///
