The module mechanism of Modul8 is one of the keys to its extensibility. The V2.5 introduces many new features in this area.

First of all, you will find several new user-interface controls like vertical slider and color picker, but most importantly, a completely open control which can be programmed freely and whose visual content can be sent to a layer of the composition. This is a highly dynamic control tool with content and interactivity that can be managed by Pythons scripts. This new addition allows the user to create tailor-made controls and moving images which can be sent to a layer of the composition and much more.

The new module system also introduces contextual layer modules. In the past, it was very difficult to design modules whose state is linked to a specific layer of the composition. For example, a module which applies an effect whose parameters should be different for each layer. Thanks to this new module type, a single checkbox allows a module to create an internal instance for each layer.

Many other improvements are, of course, available in this version, including support for serialization and logical recording of modules.
